Hello, beer lovers. It’s August, which means Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers. I know, right? They get earlier every year…
Anyway, here’s the lowdown on beer and mead events in the Ozarks:
In case you weren’t aware, the Leaky Roof Meadery gang REALLY loves local music. Stop by their tasting room for some great live local music. Here’s what’s coming up over there:
- August 9th: Buckner and Ison from 6-9pm
- August 16th: Traditional Irish Players “Stormy Weather” from 7-10pm.
- August 23rd: Casey Lynn and The Deal Breakers from 7-10pm.
- August 30th: Bluegrass at the Meadery feat. John Wynn Jr. and Fly by Night from 7-10pm.
Also, they’ll be up at the Midwest Wine and Brew Festival on Saturday, August 9th from 2-5pm. That’s up at The Country Club Hotel and Spa, 301 Carol Road, Lake Ozark, MO 65049. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. More info here.
Next weekend is the third weekend in August, which to any serious Ozarks beer drinker only means one thing: Ernte Fest. This annual event, held in Freistatt, Missouri is put on by the Freistatt Lions Club and features German Foods, Games, and, of course, a biergarten. For more info, call 417-466-3641.
You also may as well plan to be in Mother’s Backyard for the Friday Flix movie, brought to you by Mother’s Brewing Company and Moxie Cinema. This month’s feature is Superbad. It’ll be August 22nd at 8:00 PM or so (it has to get dark, see?), but the tasting room opens at 4 pm. Remember, these flicks are 21 and over only, please, so bring $5 to get in and some cash for beer and grub. Bring something to sit on, or just pull up a patch of grass and watch McLovin’ put on a show.
