The Rundown #20

As we roll on into Autumn, there are a lot of interesting beers coming out.  In addition to the myriad pumpkin and Oktoberfest beers surfacing, there is more to look forward to.

Springfield Brewing Company is releasing the World Beer Cup gold medal winner Mayhem Marzen at the brewery on Friday, but you can get it early at The Brown Derby Wine Center or at Macdoodle’s on Independence or Brown Derby Central, where you can also enter to win a bike from Queen City Cycles while you’re there.

Spooklight Pumpkin-Spiced Mead from Leaky Roof Meadery is available at their tasting room now, and will be available on draft by mid-month and in cans by early October.  You can also find their Bond Burner (jalapeno pineapple), KCC&S Cyser, and Berry Picker meads in cans everywhere and on tap, as well.  Keep an eye out for news regarding High Dry & Dusty on draft and in cans before too long, as well.

Mother’s Brewing Company has invited you over for a party this Saturday, and to celebrate, they are releasing a lot of beers.  Spiffy Britches (formerly Fancy Pants), Wit’s end, Peach Fuzz, Old School Oktoberfest, and many more will be available this Saturday at their Oktoberfest in the Ozarks party.  For more info, check out their events page.

They also have a bunch more beers on tap in the tasting room.  Which ones?  Glad you asked:

  • D’Lila
  • Toecuttter
  • MO Cider
  • Josey Wales
  • Sideshow Bob
  • Training Wheels
  • Table Saison
  • Ales for ALS
  • Thing 1 Sum R Wheat
  • Thing 2 Sum R Wit
  • Holy Mole
  • Sexual Healin
  • Ruby
  • Old School Oktoberfest
  • …and there is a potential for Chocolate Thunder to be back mid month.

Not enough good beer news for you?  Well, I have a bit more, but don’t say I never gave you anything:

I happen to be a fan of variety packs.  I like getting the most variety I can when beer shopping.  Sometimes, that’s a mix-a-six, and sometimes, it’s a variety pack.

Boulevard’s newest sampler will have Unfiltered Wheat, 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat, the return of Mid-Coast IPA and introduction of their new Oatmeal Stout. Hopefully, these will start hitting market by the end of this week.

Lazy Magnolia’s Lazy Dozen returns to its fall/winter lineup of Southern Pecan, Southern Hops’pitality, Southern Gold and Jefferson Stout, their sweet potato stout.  These probably won’t hit market till next week.

And Urban Chestnut Brewing Company has a new variety pack out, as well.  It features two beers each from the Revolution and Reverence series.  From Revolution they have Half Crown (a session IPA) and STLIPA.  From Reverence, they offer you Ku’Damm (a Berlinerweiss) and Schnickelfritz.
